NSW FIRES LIKENED TO ‘ATOMIC BOMB’ BUT AUTHORITIES FEAR WORSE IS YET TO COME
Australia’s two most populous states, NSW and Victoria, have had their east coasts devastated by massive out-of-control fires that have destroyed more than 1,500 homes and claimed 23 lives so far. In South Australia as of Saturday, there are 24 fires reported burning.
• 130 fires in NSW
• Premier Gladys Berejiklian said NSW was “yet to hit the worst of it” • Major fires on Kangaroo Island, 50% burnt from North to South
• 230 thousand hectares of farming and bushland lost
• Hundreds of houses burnt out
• Massive devastation to National forests and native wild life
